Display Your Fraternity Flag on Flag Day

Though not as widely celebrated as Independence Day, Flag Day--June 14th--is a good opportunity to honor an important symbol of our country and all that is associated with being an American. Many communities host concerts and/or parades to honor the stars and stripes. Flag Day can also be a good chance to for you and your fraternity brothers to stand out and show your fraternity flag as well as let the people in your community know about your fraternity's patriotic feelings. Besides, the girls will love it.

    What is Flag Day

fraternity flagsJune 14th commemorates the day in 1777 that the Continental Congress (the forerunner to our present day Congress) adopted the stars and stripes design for the United States flag. The flag has changed over the years as more states entered the Union, but the basic stars and stripes motif has remained the same.

Though Flag Day is not an official holiday, the grass-roots occasion is a patriotic favorite and a good opportunity to display the stars and stripes, at your fraternity house, outside your apartment or by waving a small, hand-held flag at one of the many parades around the country. What's more, flag-waving is just fun.

    Fraternity Flags and Flag Day

Fraternity flags or a Greek banner are ideal for showing your Greek spirit along with your patriotic pride on Flag Day. You can hold the stars and stripes in one hand an a fraternity flag in the other or line up your Greek banner along the parade route. Order your fraternity flags and banners today and you can use them for Flag Day and again on Independence Day. Our fraternity flags are made of durable, 100% polyester, so they will last for years to come.

Fraternity Flags and Greek banner aren't the only items suited for Flag Day. Wearing Greek clothing, like t-shirts, caps and shorts, is another way to subtly show off your fraternity pride. You can also add Greek gear like backpacks, beach towels and sunglasses. Showing your fraternity insignia and colors is trendy without being garish, silly or over-the-top.

    25 Years of Campus Classics

This year, we’re celebrating our 25th anniversary of providing the Greek community with quality merchandise! Several factors are responsible for our longevity, and this milestone is a perfect opportunity to reflect on the institution we’ve created here at Campus Classics. First and foremost, we wouldn’t be where we are today without the loyalty of our customers, whose needs we value and relationships we appreciate. Greek life is all about individuals working together to create something special, and we want to recognize how much the members of our community have contributed to our growth and success.

Long-lasting organizations go the distance when they’re capable of both remaining steadfast in their missions and evolving with the times. In many ways, our history echoes those of fraternities and sororities themselves. Greek letter organizations have indeed been in existence since the United States itself was founded; the first fraternity, Phi Beta Kappa, was established on December 5th, 1776. The first fraternity was not wholly unlike those we’re familiar with today; Phi Beta Kappa had a motto, ritual, badge, set of guiding principles, fraternal bond, and ambition to expand from campus to campus. Throughout its long history, the Greek system has thrived by maintaining its traditions while simultaneously evolving in the face of the obstacles and changes that inevitably disrupt any seasoned institution. Clearly, taxation and freedom are no longer the topics of discussion in fraternity and sorority houses, but Greek life endures. Fraternities have withstood two world wars, the Great Depression, the sociopolitical upheaval of the 1960's, and the challenges of today by progressing in ways that still coincide with their roots. Today, Greek members graduate at high rates and demonstrate loyalty to their alma maters, indications that fraternity life continues to flourish decades after it began.

Fraternities and sororities value their history, and so does Campus Classics. Since our founding in 1989, a few things have changed as we have advanced from a mail-order business to an online operation, but our dedication to delivering quality merchandise and service hasn’t diminished. We’re proud of the expansions we’ve made to our offerings, including in-house embroidery, screen-printing, laser engraving, a deep inventory, sorority merchandise, and fast shipments. While these improvements have brought about changes in our operations, our mission hasn’t deviated.

25 years later, Campus Classics continues on as the same dynamic, passionate, family-owned company that was established in 1989…only better. Thank you for accompanying us on this journey. We look forward to what the next 25 years will bring.
