10 Spring Break Preparation Tips You Need To Know

You thought it would never get here, but your Spring Break trip, that essential part of Greek life, is just a few weeks away. Now you're panicked about what to wear and what to pack. Remember, you don't have to get too involved. After all, you don't want to be bogged down with a lot of luggage. Still, you want to stand out, particularly to the girls.

    Tips for Spring Break packing

We'll help you get ready for the trip. Below are ten things you'll want to make sure to pack, so you'll fraternity spring break tipsarrive in style, all ready for the beach and beyond.

    1. Casual clothes. You'll spend most of your time in jeans, shorts and t shirts. Bring the ones you're most comfortable in. You don't have to be vogue; you're on vacation.

    2. Toiletries. Sure, the hotel will probably have shaving gear and toothpaste, but you'll end up paying way more than you would at home. Go prepared and save those dollars to spend on enjoying yourself.

    3. Work-out clothes. You're probably not going to want to spend all of your time at the pool. What if that cute girl wants to go rock climbing or out for a run? You don't want to say "no" because all you brought were jeans and flip-flops.

    4. Multiple swimwear. Since you'll be spending so much time in the pool or at the beach, you don't want to have to wear damp swimming trunks or shorts. Avoid that by packing extras. Swimwear doesn't take up much room.

    5. Be ready for the sun. If you've been cooped up in a northern fraternity house and/or classroom all winter, you'll want to avoid bringing back a sunburn as a souvenir of your trip. Be sure to pack sunscreen and a good pair of sunglasses. If you're sporting the shaved head look, add a hat to the list. Lip balm is also a good idea.

    6. One outfit for dressing up. Although you'll likely spend most of the trip in casual clothes, you'll want to be prepared in case the group wants to go somewhere nice for a change of scenery.

    7. Pajamas. You may not wear them at home, but on your trip, sharing a hotel room with people coming and going, you'll probably want to wear them. (Don’t let your trip get awkward.)

    8. A sweater. Even the warmest destinations can get a little chilly at night. Be prepared with a sweater or light jacket.

    9. Shoes. Flip-flops or sandals are usually good enough for daytime wear. Consider bringing a comfortable pair of sneakers and some nice dress shoes for evening activities.

    10. Cell phone charger. You'll want to make calls, take pictures and text. Don't be caught with a dead battery.

If your first look at your available wardrobe makes you groan, don't despair. There's still time to order Spring Break gear. Campus Classics has been offering quality fraternity apparel for nearly 25 years. We offer quick turnaround and shipping, so you can still get your items in time for your trip. Plus, you don't have to worry; our merchandise is fully licensed.

What To Wear To A Frat Formal

Celebrating your fraternity formal ls an integral part of Greek life on most campuses. They are a chance to mingle with the girls from the neighboring sororities as well as strut your stuff. However, if you're like most guys, the whole process of finding the right things to wear, finding a girl to go with you and acting properly during the fraternity formal fills you with a slight terror. While we can't help you get a date, we can give you some tips on what to wear and how to act at the spring fraternity formal.

What to Wear for the Spring Fraternity Formal

Deciding what to wear to the spring fraternity formal can be overwhelming. You want to look hip and stand out fraternity formalswithout going over the top, classy but still cool. So where do you start?

    1. Ask your fraternity brothers what they’re wearing to the fraternity formal. For some added assurance, follow the trend of your fraternity brothers or campus when it comes to formals. Each fraternity formal may follow a little different dress code, so just to be safe – ask. You can never go wrong with a dark suit, crisp white shirtand classic tie paired with a tie bar. For a twist on that look, try a bow tie and cuff links.

    2. Classic is best. While that lime green tux may seem like a good idea when you and your buddies are at the tux rental shop, trust me, it's not. When preparing for the fraternity formal, go for the traditional dark suit or black tie duds that fit properly. Let your date's outfit add the color and flash to your ensemble.

    3. If renting, know what to ask for. The classic tuxedo ensemble should include a black jacket and pants, white pleated shirt, black bow tie, black or white suspenders, a cummerbund, patent lace-up shoes, a white pocket square, black silk socks and nice shoes. This is not the time to wear your favorite sneakers.

    4. A dark suit is okay. Depending on your event and what the other guy's are wearing, a black or navy suit can be appropriate for the fraternity formal. However, be sure to ask. You don't want to be the only one without a tux. Pair your suit with a white shirt (not a button-down) and a dark tie (not a bow tie.)

Tips for Surviving the Spring Fraternity Formal

Sure, you went to prom, but you're grown up now and you need to act cool, not like the dork you were in high school. How to behave? First, relax. If you're relaxed and confident, your date and everyone around you will be relaxed too. It doesn't matter if this is your first fraternity formal or your 10th. Here are a few musts:

    1. Grooming is not optional. A man with a two-day growth on his chin still looks unkempt even in tuxedo. Enough said.

    2. Keep your tie and jacket on. The elegant dark suit and black tie look is lost the minute you untie your tie. It's only for a couple of hours. Keep your act (and your look) together.

    3. Show up with flowers. Surprises are always nice and you can never go wrong giving your girl a bouquet of flowers. You may also consider a simple gift in the form of something she can keep as a memento. Want something to impress your date and remind her of the good time you had together at the fraternity formal? Consider a small after-dance gift with your fraternity's letters on it.

Campus Classics, a name you can rely on, offers a variety of quality Greek letter items.

    Celebrate Parents Weekend

fraternity parents weekendParents Weekend is an important date on the college calendar as well as for Greek life on campus. It's a great opportunity to show your parents just what Greek life is all about. Your mom and dad may have concerns about your being in a fraternity, particularly if they didn't pledge when they were in school. Parents Weekend is a chance to highlight your house's community involvement as well as the opportunities to share ideas and interact with guys from other parts of the country and even the world; which is an integral part of being in a fraternity.

    What Is Parents Weekend

While each campus is somewhat different, most every college and university hosts some type of parents day event to help share their campus life with their mothers and fathers. Many schools incorporate some type of sports event as well as campus tours and concerts. Greek houses usually host open houses and special meals for parents.

    Gifts for Parents Weekend

It's a nice gesture to give the parents taking the time to visit campus during Parents Weekend something to remember the event. An item with your fraternity's letters makes the perfect gift for your mom and dad to take home. Such gifts don't have to be elaborate. A coffee mug with your Greek letters can help them remember each morning the fun they had visiting you. A set of golf balls with your letters might be nice, especially if your organization is hosting a father-son (or mother-son) golf tournament during the weekend. Other good Parents Weekend gift choices include blankets or even a polo shirt--all with your Greek letters, of course. You don't necessarily want to be trendy when you're picking out a gift for the parents. Better to stand out by offering a well-made, thoughtful item that they can use.

Campus Classics is a one-stop emporium for all of your Greek clothing needs, including gifts for parents. We offer a wide variety of quality items, all customized with your fraternity letters on them.
